Camp Communty Connection (CCC) is a camp for middle school students coordinated by community partners known as the Newport News Youth Collective. Members of The Collective include the City of Newport News’ Police Department, Department of Human Services’ Youth Services, and Parks and Recreation and Tourism, Newport News Public Schools, Alternatives, Inc., and Boys and Girls Club of the Virginia Peninsula. The purpose of the camp is to:

·         Increase awareness of healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and team building.

·         Create and develop a growing nucleus of responsible, well-informed youth citizens.

·         Build lasting and productive partnerships between our youth and the communities we proudly serve.

Camp Community Connection is intended for middle school students 6th-8th grade (including rising 6th grader) youth aged 11 - 13 years of age who wish to engage in an exciting and fun summer camp experience. You must live in the City of Newport News or attend school in the City of Newport News in order to attend the camp. Participation in the camp requires a commitment of five days, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students are encouraged to participate in activities, interact with their peers, ask questions, and express their ideas and concerns to their instructors.

Participants will be provided a light continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks each day. If the participant has any dietary restrictions, they should be indicated on the application

Camp Community Connection

By signing below, I give my child permission to participate in Camp Community Connection, sponsored by the NN Youth Collective, and I give permission to transport my child to and from activities, special trips, and events.

The participant (parent/guardian for participants under 18 years) is responsible for all damages, losses, or injuries that he/she may incur while attending or participating in activities related to Camp Community Connection. The participant also agree to hereby waive all claims or causes against the City of Newport News, organizations of the NN Youth Collective to include Newport News Public Schools, The Boys and Girls Club of Virginia Peninsula, Alternatives Inc., Youth Volunteer Corp of Hampton Roads, their members, employees, agents, and sponsors, and hereby release, indemnify, and hold harmless the City of Newport News, the NN Youth Collective, of all liability and responsibility for any injury that may occur to the participant.

In case of emergency, illness, or accident (if the parent/guardian or emergency contact cannot be reached), the staff has my authorization to administer first aid. The staff also has my permission to have my child transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital emergency room. The hospital emergency room staff has my permission to provide treatment, which a physician deems necessary for the well-being of my child.
