Camp Communty Connection (CCC) is a camp for middle school students coordinated by community partners known as the Newport News Youth Collective. Members of The Collective include the City of Newport News’ Police Department, Department of Human Services’ Youth Services, and Parks and Recreation and Tourism, Newport News Public Schools, Alternatives, Inc., and Boys and Girls Club of the Virginia Peninsula. The purpose of the camp is to:
· Increase awareness of healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and team building.
· Create and develop a growing nucleus of responsible, well-informed youth citizens.
· Build lasting and productive partnerships between our youth and the communities we proudly serve.
Camp Community Connection is intended for middle school students 6th-8th grade (including rising 6th grader) youth aged 11 - 13 years of age who wish to engage in an exciting and fun summer camp experience. You must live in the City of Newport News or attend school in the City of Newport News in order to attend the camp. Participation in the camp requires a commitment of five days, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students are encouraged to participate in activities, interact with their peers, ask questions, and express their ideas and concerns to their instructors.
Participants will be provided a light continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks each day. If the participant has any dietary restrictions, they should be indicated on the application
