  • 1. Pamphlets and Printing Workshop
Led by Susan Hanson, curator in the Special Collections Department of Walker Library, and Laura Cochrane, Professor of Art History in the Department of Art and Design.

    Saturdays At Todd – April 18, 2026

This hands-on workshop will be led by Susan Hanson, curator in the Special Collections Department of Walker Library, and Laura Cochrane, Professor of Art History in the Department of Art and Design. It is offered in conjunction with the exhibition The Art, Technology, and Craft of the Book, currently on view in Special Collections.

Participants will learn a variety of pamphlet-sewing techniques, decorate them with marbled paper, and learn methods for transferring texts and images. By the end of the session, attendees will have made their own hand-bound and decorated pamphlets, along with custom-printed bookplates.

You can also learn more about early printed books at Dr. Cochrane’s gallery talk, “Crafting the Early Modern Book,” on April 9 at 4 PM in Special Collections.

  • Workshop Registration Policy

Registration for this workshop will close on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and may close earlier if capacity is reached. If plans change, advance notice is appreciated so the space may be offered to another participant.
