Houchens Outdoor Training 2026

We are excited to host this event at the Houchens Program Center, located at 4520 Barren River Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42101!

The fee to register for this event is $15 to help with food and supply costs. There is an optional overnight camp out on Friday, May 1st after the meet and greet and outdoor cooking that begins at 6pm. Also, there is a separate charge for the First Aid/CPR class that will need to be paid to the instructor at the beginning of class.

Classes are listed in time blocks by day. To register, check "yes" under each class you wish to take and check "No" on the ones you don't want.

@- There is a pre-requisite that you must complete an online portion before the in-person training.

Friday Night

This is a meet and greet with fun outdoor cooking options- Dutch oven cooking over the fire cooking and box oven cooking.

Optional overnight camping is also available for Friday night- tent camping, sleeping in the lodge and the hammock unit are all available.

Lodging:

Lodging is free for indoor or outdoor camping. There is a shower room in the lodge that can be used. If you are staying in the lodge you need to pick up your stuff Saturday morning so that there is room for classes and lunch.

Meals

Lunch is included as part of the Indoor Camping class on Saturday. Those not taking this class will be able to eat a cold lunch provided as part of the registration fee at noon.

Fees and Payment

There is a $15 registration fee for the weekend. Payment must be received by April 26th. You can either send your payment electronically or mail your payment. Select your payment method below. Depending on your selection you will receive a text/email asking for your electronic payment.

American Red Cross First Aid/CPR: Because of the way Red Cross handles its fee structure, you will pay the $40 for your class directly to the course instructor. Please bring cash or check to pay the instructor at the beginning of class.
