Applicants interested in scholarship consideration are strongly encouraged to apply no later than June 1, 2026, our scholarship priority deadline. Scholarship awards will be determined by July 1 for those who applied by June 1, and any remainder funds, if available, distributed on a rolling basis thereafter.

Why are you interested in the intensive program? Are you interested in finding a place in the woodworking industry, or are you pursuing a creative passion?*

While the program is open to beginners, this course should not be the first woodworking experience you've ever had. What prior woodworking course(s) or other relevant experience will you bring to the program? Or, what plan have you made to gain some basic woodworking experience before the program begins?*

Our program is rigorous, and students work in a close-knit community intensely for two months, sharing tools, equipment, resources and space with one another. Are you prepared to work with others closely as a team, to uphold our community values and agreements, as well as our conduct standards?*

Need Based Scholarships
A limited number of need-based partial scholarships are available. HatchSpace seeks to make our programs accessible to early career & ecomically disadvantaged individuals. We also acknowledge how women, LGBTQIA+ community members, and people of color have historically been underrepresented and undercelebrated in trade and craft careers.

Awards range in amounts, though the highest level of awards will be most limited.
We strongly encourage students seeking scholarship funds to apply no later than scholarship priority deadline. Any remainder funds distributed on a rolling basis thereafter.
Funds are extremely limited, and requesting a scholarship does not guarantee an award.

A note to Vermonters and those in neighboring counties:
HatchSpace intensives may be eligible for Vermont Advancement Grants and/or funds provided by the State of Vermont to support the career training of locals. If we believe you may be eligible for one of these programs, we may refer you to additional resources.

Economic Justice Sliding Scale
At HatchSpace we believe that the best person to make a determination about what an individual can reasonably afford is the person themselves, armed with insights that can help them make an informed determination.

With this in mind, HatchSpace utilizes an Economic Justice Sliding Scale to assist us in awarding.

Step One:

Please read and review the personal financial experience model carefully below.

Step Two:

Consider both (a) your personal financial experience and background in relation to the experiences of others, and (b) HatchSpace's nonprofit status and efforts to offer our programs at accessible rates. The stated tuition is an already discounted rate when compared to our costs of running the program.

Then, we ask that you submit a suggested scholarship level that reflects what would be feasible for you to participate in the program, as well as any other message or information you would like to share to HatchSpace.

HatchSpace will then review your submission to determine your final award ammount. Scholarships are not guaranteed, and subject to availability.
