Parenting in Practice Survey 2026
  • Parenting in Practice Survey 2026

Help shape supports for rural physician parents in British Columbia by sharing your experiences, challenges, and ideas.
  • Parenting in Practice (PIP), supported by the Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc), is relaunching its work to better support physicians who are parenting while practicing in rural and remote BC communities.

To do this well, we need a clearer understanding of the realities rural physician parents are navigating, including barriers, gaps, strengths, and existing supports.

    This survey aims to:

    • Better understand the lived experience of rural physician parents
    • Identify areas where additional resources or system improvements are needed
    • Inform practical, sustainable supports that reflect rural practice and parenting realities

Strong rural healthcare depends on physicians who can build sustainable careers and families in the communities they serve. Your input will directly guide the next phase of Parenting in Practice initiatives.

Confidentiality: This survey is confidential. Individual responses will not be identifiable in any reports or shared materials. Findings will be analyzed in aggregate and used solely to inform program development, advocacy, and planning through Parenting in Practice and RCCbc.

Thank you for contributing to work that supports rural physician families across British Columbia.

If you have any interest in this topic and working group – where we strive to make parenting as rural physicians better in BC – we would be thrilled to have you in this working group.

We would like to create a working group of 4 physicians and would be grateful for your participation.

    • The Parenting in Practice project at RCCbc created a Parental Leave Systems Navigation Process document. This document outlines who rural physicians may need to notify before taking maternity or parental leave and summarizes related benefits and processes.
