  • LMSA is excited to offer a unique opportunity to serve as a national liaison to leading organizations in medicine, including the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), National Association of Medical Spanish (NAMS), American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA).

    This is your chance to build your network, represent LMSA on a national level, and be part of the conversations shaping medical education—all while gaining valuable leadership experience along the way.

    Term: June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2027

    Time Commitment: ~3–5 hours/month

    Eligibility: Open to LMSA members not currently serving on the LMSA National Board

     

    Deadline: May 11th 11:59 p.m. PST

     

  • Core Responsibilities (All Liaison Positions)

    - Serve as the primary liaison between LMSA and the partner organization

    - Maintain consistent communication with partner organization representatives

    - Attend required meetings (virtual and/or in-person, as applicable)

    - Disseminate opportunities, events, and resources to LMSA membership

    - Identify and support collaborative initiatives

    - Submit monthly updates to the VP of Partnerships

  • Organization-Specific Responsibilities

     

    NBME Liaison

    - Represent LMSA in the Medical Student Leader Roundtable

    - Communicate LMSA student perspectives, concerns, and feedback on NBME and USMLE assessments

    - Share updates from NBME discussions, including new tools and resources, with LMSA members

    - Participate in feedback initiatives (e.g., student advisory groups, pilot tools, or roundtables)

    - Help ensure bidirectional communication between LMSA and NBME

     

    NBOME Liaison

    - Serve as LMSA representative on the NBOME Liaison Committee

    - Attend annual NBOME Liaison Committee meetings

    - Share student perspectives on osteopathic medical education and COMLEX assessments

    - Communicate NBOME updates, initiatives, and opportunities to LMSA membership

    - Collaborate with other national student organizations to improve NBOME programs

    - Contribute to ongoing dialogue shaping osteopathic medical education

     

    NAMS Liaison (Note: Selected candidates will be invited to apply through the NAMS selection process)

    - Serve as the NAMS–LMSA Student Coalition Liaison

    - Attend monthly NAMS meetings

    - Share key opportunities with LMSA members, including:

      - Abstract deadlines

      - Research and poster/research symposia

      - Mentorship opportunities

    - Facilitate collaboration between LMSA and NAMS on academic and professional initiatives

    - Must be an active member of both LMSA and NAMS

     

    AOA Liaison

    - Maintain communication with AOA leadership through quarterly meetings or calls

    - Identify and support collaborative opportunities between LMSA and AOA

    - Represent LMSA at the AOA Annual Business Meeting

    - Present LMSA initiatives, goals, and collaborative efforts at the national level

    - Assist in ensuring continuity by transitioning knowledge to the next liaison

    - Must be a member in good standing of both LMSA and AOA

     

    SOMA Liaison

    - Serve as the communication bridge between LMSA and SOMA

    - Participate in the SOMA DEI/DEHI Committee

    - Share SOMA opportunities, events, and resources with LMSA membership

    - Attend one SOMA conference (registration waived for the liaison)

    - Promote collaboration between LMSA and SOMA initiatives
