Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Thrive & Shine Academy for our 2026 Prom Makeover Activation! Thrive & Shine Academy is leading a community beauty and wellness service experience to support high school seniors across San Diego as they prepare for prom. In collaboration with school and community partners, this two-day activation is designed to help students feel confident, celebrated, and cared for during this special milestone.Event Dates: Friday, May 1, 2026 – Prom Prep Day Prep services may include wash + blow dry, hair prep, grooming, basic nail prep, and other pre-prom beauty support. Saturday, May 2, 2026 – Prom Makeover Day Final beauty services may include hairstyling, barber touch-ups, makeup, nails, and finishing details before prom. LocationJackie Robinson YMCA Teen Center 151 YMCA WaySan Diego, CA 92102 (Additional prep locations may be confirmed for May 1 depending on school and partner site coordination.) Who We’re Serving: We are supporting high school seniors from multiple San Diego schools, with a focus on youth who may need extra community support to access prom preparation services.Volunteer Roles Needed We are seeking licensed professionals, beauty students, and community volunteers in the following areas: Hairstylists, Barbers, Braiders, Makeup Artists (MUA) Nail Techs, Estheticians Beauty Support / Set-Up / Hospitality General Volunteers Volunteer Expectations Dress code: All black or approved Thrive & Shine event shirt, Professional, positive, youth-centered attitudeArrive on time and be prepared with your tools/kits if applicable Help us create a safe, affirming, and uplifting experience for every student Important Notes: This is a collaborative community service activation focused on confidence, care, and celebration. Some roles may serve on Prep Day (May 1), Prom Day (May 2), or both. Final scheduling and service assignments will be based on student needs, volunteer availability, and event flow.
