Western Slope Opportunity Project
Western Slope Opportunity Project is for workers and families impacted by coal facility closures, including mines, power plants and supply chain companies. As northwest Colorado moves away from coal operations, WSOP and the Colorado Office of Just Transition are here to help workers and their families with free classes that address budgeting, credit, and investing. Please plan to attend all sessions. Food and childcare will be provided. You will be contacted via phone or email by the Coal Transition Navigator before starting the class. Sessions include, learning how to build a budget, practicing tracking expenses, and learning how to reduce debt. You will also learn about credit scores and credit reports. You will develop skills for improving and protecting your credit, understanding how to use credit cards to further financial goals. Lastly, understanding the importance of having a fully funded emergency fund, learning about different options to prepare for retirement, and increasing knowledge of personal investing to achieve financial goals
