The Steinem Sisters Collection Advisory Board is comprised of volunteers from the Toledo feminist community. The Board provides support, guidance, and advice to the Steinem Sisters Collection librarian and serves as ambassadors for the Collection’s materials, programs, and initiatives. The Board meets 4-6 times per year to promote the collection, plan events, and foster community. We are looking for individuals to join our Board to help amplify our current offerings and connect with the community to reach people who are not aware of the Steinem Sisters Collection. Time Commitment:
- Regular attendance at Board meetings 4-6 times per year.
- Regular attendance at Steinem Sisters Collection programs (there are typically 4-6 Talking Circles and special events per year), as volunteers or as participants.
Responsibilities
- Advocate and network for the SSC in the greater Toledo area.
- Regularly attend SSC events.
- Assist in planning SSC events like book club meetings, Talking Circles, and special events.
- Suggest titles for addition to the collection.
Relevant Experience
- Experience working with (or interest in learning about) feminist organizations.
- Experience with (or interest in learning about) feminist activism.
- Experience working with (or interest in learning about) community organizations.
- Experience (or interest in learning about) organizing events.
Currently, the Steinem Sisters Collection is seeking community members to join the board on a rolling basis. The Library fully funds the Steinem Sisters Collection programs and materials, so there are no fundraising responsibilities.
