  • Scholarship Purpose

  • Dr. Anthony B. Stinson was a dedicated educator whose passion for learning and commitment to student success left a lasting impact on his community. The Dr. Anthony B. Stinson Legacy Scholarship honors his legacy by supporting high school seniors who demonstrate high moral character, servant leadership, and a commitment to pursuing studies in Music, Education, and STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

  • Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Be a Spring 2026 graduating high school senior (open to all seniors)

    • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

    • Be admitted to an accredited four-year college or university for 2026–2027 

    • Demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement

    • Plan to pursue studies in Music, Education, or STEAM-related fields

    • Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, or community leader

     

    Selection is based on merit and alignment with the scholarship’s mission. Financial need may be considered but is not the sole determining factor.

  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, school counselor, or community leader. Please upload the letter in this section of the application. The letter should address the applicant’s character, academic achievement, community involvement, and leadership, including their leadership style, initiative, and impact on others.

  • VII. Selection Process

  • Scholarship recipients will be selected by an independent scholarship review committee in accordance with applicable 501(c)(3) regulations.

  • Applications will be reviewed using a standardized evaluation process based on the following criteria:
    • Academic achievement
    • Leadership experience
    • Community involvement
    • Quality of the submitted essay and alignment with the mission of the Dr. Anthony B. Stinson Legacy Scholarship
  • Finalists will be required to participate in a virtual interview as part of the selection process. Interviews will be conducted in a fair, consistent, and non-discriminatory manner using standardized questions. Participation in an interview does not guarantee selection. The scholarship award decision will be final.

  • Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the recipient's accredited college or university and may be used for qualified educational expenses in accordance with IRS guidelines.
  • Administered in accordance with 501(c)(3) scholarship best practices.

  • By signing below, I certify that all information provided in this application is true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that providing false information may result in disqualification or revocation of the award.

    I acknowledge and agree to providing evidence of enrollment/regirstration at an accredited four-year college or university of my choice before scholarship funds are awarded. I hereby authorize the scholarship administrators to verify information provided and to contact my school or college for enrollment confirmation if selected.

    I acknowledge that applications submitted without all required information and supporting documentation will be deemed incomplete and will not be considered for this scholarship cycle.

    I also consent that if selected as a scholar winner, my picture may be taken and used to promote the Dr. Anthony B. Stinson Legacy Scholarship program.
