    • Lion Dance Category
    • The Lion Dance Competition is a traditional Southern Lion Dance event where teams perform a 7–10 minute routine showcasing the art, spirit, and skill of this cultural tradition.

Performances are judged on lion movement, musical synchronization, technical difficulty, choreography, and overall presentation. Teams bring their own props, such as chairs, benches, and platforms, and are evaluated not just on acrobatics, but on authentic expression, storytelling, and the ceremonial plucking of the greens (cai qing).

It is a full-production competitive experience, from timed setup and disassembly to live judging, designed to honor and elevate the traditional Southern Lion Dance art form.

Only the group leader is responsible for registering the team. As a member, you are not required to sign up for lion dance.

    • An example of how to describe routine for judges to evaluate from:

      Lion Fighting the Snake:
The lion descends down the mountain (first executes stationary lift onto prop mountain) to fight the snake. The lion must cross an obstable (stationary lift onto prop bridge) then continues to traverse the field to the objective. The lion will stationary lift onto the prop den for inspection and jump off (roll) the den to engage in fighting with the snake. Lion executes head stack to deliver final blow to snake and proceeds to drink wine to replenish its energy - final bow (end of show).
