WBLE Program Participation Form
The Work-Based Learning Experience
(WBLE) program is a structured, supervised training service designed to provide youth and young adults with disabilities the opportunity to develop essential workplace skills through real-world, hands-on experiences. This program is aligned with the guidelines set forth by the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and supports participants in achieving competitive, integrated employment outcomes.
Program Purpose
The purpose of WBLE is to bridge the gap between classroom learning and employment by exposing participants to real work environments where they can build practical skills, confidence, and independence. Participants engage in meaningful activities that reinforce career exploration, job readiness, and self-advocacy.
Key Components of WBLE
1. Structured Work Experience Participants are placed in supervised work settings within the community, including businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. These experiences may include: Job shadowing Internships Volunteer-based training placements Paid work experiences (when applicable through DVR funding)
Skill Development
2. WBLE focuses on building essential workplace competencies, including: Communication and interpersonal skills Time management and punctuality Problem-solving and critical thinking Workplace etiquette and professionalism Task completion and responsibility
Supervision and Support
3. Supervision and Support Participants receive ongoing support from program staff, job coaches, and business partners to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. Support may include On-site supervision Job coaching Progress monitoring Employer feedback
