ELIGIBILITY:
- URBAN SKETCHERS MANIFESTO: All sketches must comply within these guidelines
- MEMBERSHIP: The exhibition is open to any member of Urban Sketchers, 18 years and older
Note: Chicago members will receive priority if sketches exceed available space
- WORK PERMITTED: all work must be original urban sketches unless other wise dictated
REQUIREMENTS:
- Framed
- Maximum 4 framed pieces
- Submitted pieces do not require glass or plastic covering
- Work must be framed and ready to hang by wire or center bracket attached to the frame
- We will hang salon style, and as necessary, group each exhibitor’s sketches as needed to fit the gallery. The framed total sketch area per artist is limited to 640 square inches. Within that limit, you may submit up to four pieces (e.g., three 14”-square framed sketches) – but no single framed sketch may exceed 320 square inches (e.g., 16” x 20” framed) and 32” framed (length or height). Within these limits, we welcome unusual formats (e.g., 10” x 32”) or a single frame containing one or more sketches sold as a unit
Note: we cannot add missing wires or bracket
- Digital urban sketches are an exception and accepted with approval from Sketch Show Team
*Any damage to exhibited, stored and/or transported art work and frame is NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY of Palette & Chisel, or USkChicago, or sketch show volunteers.
INFO FOR SUBMISSION OF PIECES:
For each sketch, please include the following:
- Title
- Medium/media
- Dimensions (H"xW") - inches including frame
- Sale prices of "NFS" - not for sale
- List your work in order of priority
Note: we reserve the right to hang pieces based on space available
- Upload a JPEG file (no larger than 1M) labeled as: "LastName_FirstInitial-Title"
(Example: daVinci_L-MonaLisa)
SALES: Sketch submitters may offer their sketches for sale at a submitted price for the framed urban sketches or labeled as not for sale (NFS).
The Palette & Chisel will process all sales by credit card and will retain 20%, USk Chicago will retain 10%, and the remaining 70% will be sent to the artist with a check sent by P&C.
We will provide your contact information as it appears in this submission to Palette & Chisel. Buyers may choose to take their purchased sketch immediately upon sale but if keeps it in the show is responsible for picking up piece after the show ends.
IMPORTANT DATES:
- Deadline for online submission form: Wednesday, June 24 at 11:59pm
- Delivery of work: to the Palette & Chisel are Tuesday, July 7 through Wednesday, July 8 between 10:30am-6:30pm
Note: late deliveries can be refused entry
- Notification of acceptances: Submissions will be reviewed to confirm that they meet all requirements, and confirmation will be sent to the email address provided
- Opening reception: Friday, July 10, 6:00pm-8:00pm
at Palette & Chisel
- Show closing: Sunday, July 19, by 5:00pm
- Art Pickup: Sunday, July 19, Pick up at any time throughout the day
Note: If sketches are left at Palette & Chisel, it's up to the owner/sketcher to contact the team to make alternate arrangements and cover any costs incurred.
