Louisville's Neighbourhoods
Step into the heart of downtown Louisville with a visit to historic Whiskey Row, a district steeped in character and bourbon heritage - once the epicentre of the city’s thriving Bourbon industry. Just east of downtown, the Highlands and NuLu neighbourhoods offer a creative, Brooklyn-esque energy that showcases Louisville’s contemporary local culture. Nearby, NuLu (the East Market District), ranked No. 7 in USA Today’s 2026 Best Arts Districts, is known for its bold murals, independent galleries, boutique shopping, and a dynamic dining scene that continues to earn national attention. Beyond these districts, Louisville unfolds into a rich tapestry of neighbourhoods. Historic Old Louisville impresses with one of the largest collections of Victorian homes in the United States, while Germantown and Schnitzelburg reflect the city’s German roots and laid-back vibe.

Louisville celebrates the iconic Derby cocktail for 30 entire days with Mint Julep Month every April. The Kentucky Derby Festival has been called the “Super Bowl and Mardi Gras rolled into one.” The Muhammad Ali Centre is a must-do, honouring the Louisville-born boxer's rise to fame and civil rights and humanitarian causes.
