  • We are inviting volunteers from communities across the Scottish Borders to join our Community Funding Assessment Panel.

    As a panel member, you will help review, assess and score applications from community groups, charities, social enterprises, and local organisations seeking funding to deliver projects that benefit people across the region.

    This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to community development, gain experience in funding assessment, and help ensure local voices shape local investment.

    Volunteer Funding Assessor

    Location:
    Remote/online, with occasional inperson sessions (optional)

    Time commitment:
    Approx. 10 hours per funding round over the space of a month (varies), including reading applications and attending assessment meetings

    Skills needed:
    Ability to use email, online systems and access to join meetings online if needed.

    Training:
    Full training and scoring guidance will be provided.

    Expenses:
    Travel expenses reimbursed (where relevant)

    Panel members will:

    • Read and score applications using an agreed scoring framework
    • Provide constructive written comments
    • Participate in a panel meetings (online or in person) to discuss recommendations
    • Help ensure decisions are fair, transparent, and community-led
    • Maintain confidentiality and declare any conflicts of interest
