Join the club.
Find your people.
Go ski. ⛷️🏂
UTSSC brings together students who ski, snowboard, want to learn, want to travel, or just want people to hit the mountain with.
Membership: $15
What membership is for
🏔️
Trip access Membership is required to participate in UTSSC trips.
🍻
Events + socials Meet people before you end up sharing a bus, chalet or chairlift with them.
🫶
A ski community Solo signups are normal. You do not need an existing ski crew to join.
🌱
Brand new? We can help. UTSSC has a peer mentorship division where experienced skiers and snowboarders help beginners learn the basics in a low-pressure, student-to-student environment.
Mentor availability may vary by trip or event.
Who can join?
UTSSC is a University of Toronto student club first. We also welcome parts of the wider student community where capacity allows.
🎓
U of T Students
If you are currently enrolled at the University of Toronto, you qualify as a U of T Student Member.
Undergraduate, graduate, PhD, professional, international, exchange and mature students all count.
🏫
Other Ontario Universities
Current students at recognized Ontario universities may apply for Associate Student Membership.
Your level of study does not matter — undergraduate, graduate, PhD and other university students are welcome.
👋
Alumni + Exceptions
U of T alumni and people outside our standard membership categories may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
A genuine connection to a current U of T student or UTSSC member may be considered when reviewing an exception.
Important: U of T students get priority.
UTSSC exists primarily to serve the University of Toronto student community. If a trip, event or program reaches capacity or develops a waitlist, current U of T students receive priority over Associate Members, alumni and exception-based members.
Your membership season
UTSSC membership is issued for one ski season and expires on September 1.
Membership does not automatically carry into the next season. If registration for a new-season trip opens before September 1, a membership for that upcoming season may still be required.
Membership refunds
Current U of T students:
Membership fees may be refunded within 30 days of purchase, provided the membership has not already been used to participate in a UTSSC trip or another membership-dependent activity.
Associate Members, alumni and exception-based memberships:
Membership fees are non-refundable.
Membership ≠ guaranteed trip spot
Being a UTSSC member makes you eligible to participate in Club opportunities, but it does not guarantee a place on any specific trip, event, program, accommodation arrangement or activity.
Trip and event participation may depend on factors including:
- available capacity;
- U of T student priority;
- trip-specific eligibility requirements;
- safety considerations;
- rooming and accommodation requirements;
- participant conduct or relevant prior Club experience;
- transportation and operational requirements; and
- the safe and effective operation of the trip or event.
A note about trip accommodation
UTSSC works hard to keep trips affordable for students. That often means our advertised base prices are built around shared student-style accommodation, including shared rooms and, on some trips, shared beds.
Rooming decisions consider participant comfort, safety, age, life stage, existing relationships within the group and the type of sleeping arrangement available.
Where the standard accommodation arrangement would not be appropriate, UTSSC may require a participant to use an alternative arrangement. This may include:
- a private bed;
- a different rooming group;
- an upgraded occupancy arrangement; or
- a separate room where necessary.
Where an alternative arrangement costs more than the standard trip package, the additional cost is the responsibility of the participant. UTSSC therefore cannot guarantee that every participant will qualify for the lowest advertised trip price.
Don’t make it weird.
UTSSC is meant to be fun, social, inclusive and safe. Membership and participation may be restricted where conduct creates legitimate concerns about safety, harassment, participant comfort, respectful behaviour, trip operations or the experience of other members.
Depending on the circumstances, UTSSC may:
- place reasonable conditions on participation;
- suspend membership or participation;
- revoke membership;
- decline a future membership application; or
- require a previously suspended participant to request reconsideration before returning.
Relevant conduct from previous seasons may be considered. The duration and conditions of any suspension may vary depending on the seriousness of the situation. Reapplying after a suspension does not guarantee reinstatement.
For U of T students: membership decisions can be challenged
A current University of Toronto student may challenge an executive decision concerning their membership through the appeal process provided by UTSSC's governing documents.
This may include asking for the matter to be brought before the Club's general membership, where the student and the Executive may present their respective positions and the membership may overturn the Executive's decision where permitted under the Constitution.
Appeal rights for Associate Members, alumni and exception-based members apply only where UTSSC's governing documents expressly provide them.
Associate + alumni membership
Associate Student Membership, alumni membership and exception-based membership are discretionary.
UTSSC may limit, decline, suspend, revoke or decline to renew these memberships where reasonably necessary because of Club capacity, safety, conduct, participant experience, operational requirements or UTSSC's responsibility to prioritize the University of Toronto student community.
Approval in one season does not guarantee approval in a future season.
Outside the usual categories?
We may consider exceptions case-by-case. A genuine connection to a current University of Toronto student or UTSSC member may be considered, particularly for students attending universities outside Ontario or individuals connected to the UTSSC community.
Exceptions are discretionary, may include conditions and do not establish automatic eligibility for future membership, trips or events.
Still have a weirdly specific question?
Honestly, ask us. It is much easier to sort it out before you register for something.
