    Job Role: Alternative Provision Tutor


    Job Description:
    Balance and Build Support Ltd are seeking dedicated and compassionate Alternative Provision Tutors to
    support children and young people across Suffolk and surrounding areas. This is a flexible, 0-hour contract
    role suited to individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people who
    may be disengaged from mainstream education.
    Tutors will deliver personalised, one-to-one or small group learning sessions to children with a range of
    additional needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, neurodiversity, and other
    diagnosis.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Plan and deliver tailored educational sessions to meet individual learning needs. relationships with young people.
    Support students to re-engage with education and develop confidence.
    Adapt teaching approaches to suit a variety of learning styles and needs.
    Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress, and outcomes.
    Work in line with safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
    Liaise with families, schools, and professionals where appropriate.
    Build positive, trusting professional relationships with young people.


    Pay Rates:
    £30 per hour – Without teaching qualifications or extensive experience of complex needs,
    £40 per hour – Candidates with extensive experience of complex needs.
    £50 per hour – Tutors holding teaching qualifications.


    Requirements:

    Essential:
    Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with additional needs.
    Strong understanding of safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
    Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
    Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
    Willingness to travel across Suffolk and surrounding areas.
    Willingness to complete mandatory training prior to starting.
    Desirable:
    Experience of children and young people with complex needs.
    Background in education, youth work, or the care sector.
    Experience supporting children and young people with additional needs.


    Additional Information:
    Flexible working hours.
    Mileage is paid at 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, 25p thereafter as per HMRC approved mileage
    rates.
    Work will be allocated based on tutor availability, experience, and location.
