    Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Is Delighted To Be Working In Partnership With Swim Ulster To Deliver Our First Children's Water Safety Course Within The District, Supporting Young People Aged 13 -17 Years To Stay Safe In And Around Open Water.

    This exciting new initiative supports young people to develop the confidence, core skills and water‑safety knowledge needed to take part in open water swimming safely and responsibly.
  • Programme Details:

    Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is delighted to be working in partnership with Swim Ulster to deliver a three‑week water safety course for children, aimed at improving awareness, confidence and basic skills around water. This programme will help children understand key water safety messages, recognise potential risks, and learn how to stay safe in and around local waterways. This initiative is the first of its kind to be delivered within our district and represents an important step in promoting child safety, prevention, and early education around water‑based

    What to bring:

    • Wetsuit is recommended,
    • Water 
    • Towel and a change of clothes - Just to note there are toilets available on site, however there is no changing room facilities.

  • Fermanagh and Omagh District Council (FODC), partner organisations or coach associated with programme, session or activity delivery are not liable for any injury or harm that is sustained as a direct result of engagement with the programme, session or activity. Engagement is entirely at participant own risk. Participant should only engage in the programme, session or activity if fit and well to do so

     


    All sites will be assessed up to 24 hours prior to delivery of any session. In the event that blue‑green algae (cyanobacteria) is identified at a waterbody during the programme period, all water‑based activities will be suspended in line with public health guidance. The programme will continue to operate, with sessions adapted to deliver water safety education and awareness talks on land. Where possible, advance communication will be issued to parents and guardians prior to programme commencement to advise of any changes to delivery arrangements.

  • Swimming ability Requirements

    For safety reasons, all participants attending the water safety course are required to have a basic level of swimming competence and must be able to swim at least 25 metres unaided.

  • In accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, Fermanagh and Omagh Distrct Council has a duty to protect the information we hold on you. The personal information you provide on this form will only be used for the purpose of the programme you are attending. Information will be shared with relevant individuals, partner organisations and coaches (who may have been externally appointed to deliver the programme) to facilitate delivery. 

    Information will not be shared with any other organisations or individuals unless law or regulation compels such a disclosure.
