    HBCU Coding Bootcamp and E.S.T.E.A.M.ED Summit Application Form

  • Read and follow the instructions carefully prior to submitting your application.

    All finalists will be notified on or before Monday, May 11, 2026.

    Finalists must confirm their acceptance and participation within three (3) days of notification.

  • Application Criteria:


    1. Applicant must be enrolled at a college, university, or community college and in good standing. Rising sophomores through seniors are eligible to apply. (Seniors who will still be enrolled in fall 2026 are also eligible to apply.) A current unofficial transcript will be required to verify enrollment.

    2. Applicants should be available for the entire duration of the program.

    **Selected applicants must be available to participate in all program days. This ensures that participants can fully and actively engage in the program's diverse activities, curriculum and opportunities. In-person events will take place on the following dates:

    Sunday, June 7 - Friday June, 12 2026 - Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, Florida


    3. Applicants should demonstrate some interest in coding or technology, though prior experience is not required.

    4. The program is open to undergraduate students in all majors/areas of study.

    5. Applicants should be collaborative and open to creative problem solving.


    Successful applications will be selected by board members of the Arise And Shine Foundation and a committee of the program's strategic planning team.

  • About the Arise And Shine Coding Bootcamp and E.S.T.E.A.M.ED Summit: 

    The Arise And Shine Coding Bootcamp is a completely free experience filled with inspiration, impactful life lessons, skill building, and networking! During a week-long coding curriculum, students will enjoy curated discussions, engaging motivational speakers, and memorable activities.

    Attendees will explore how coding, app development and STEAM training can help them find success in a range of career paths. Students will leave empowered with new life and tech skills and infused with a renewed sense of hope and connections.


    Participants will learn to code using Apple’s Everyone Can Code curriculum. In addition to coding, the Bootcamp, now in its third year, will further prepare and empower scholars to be future leaders through lessons in cultivating wellness, creative thinking, esteem building and problem solving. 

    • Participants will enjoy a high-energy event experience filled with positive vibes, inspiring speakers and meaningful connections.
    • Throughout the course of the bootcamp's coding curriculum, this cohort will meet in person for 1 week to develop an app project with guidance and curriculum assistance provided by the program sponsor. Our team will provide experts in the field of education and computer science to help integrate and execute the curriculum program.
    • New this year, The E.S.T.E.A.M.ED Summit will feature an App Challenge with a $50,000 scholarship award pool designed to reward excellence and recognize high-impact ideas.

      The 3 top performing participants will earn scholarship awards of $8,000, $5,000, and $3,000. Beyond the top honors, every eligible participant who completes the program will receive an even distribution of the remaining scholarship funds, reinforcing our commitment to investing in all students who rise to the challenge.
