Position Title: Bakery Leader
Reports To: Owner
Job Summary:
The Bakery Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and managing the bakery team to ensure smooth execution of all tasks. This role is focused on maintaining high standards, accountability, and a positive work environment. The Bakery Leader ensures team members are following established SOPs, producing consistent products, and contributing to a supportive, high-energy culture.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and support bakery assistants in daily production including preparation, measuring ingredients, mixing dough, shaping, baking, packaging, cleaning, and organizing orders.

Ensure all team members follow documented SOPs and uphold product quality, uniformity, and visual standards.

Train new team members and provide ongoing coaching, instruction, and support to existing team members.

Provide disciplinary feedback as needed, promoting accountability and performance improvement.

Manage weekly schedules and approve time-off requests, ensuring sufficient yet lean shift coverage.

Maintain communication with the Owner regarding team performance, staffing needs, and operational updates at least weekly.

Use scheduling software and support digital tools related to orders and workflows.

Monitor team hygiene and cleanliness compliance, ensuring standards such as pinned hair, no jewelry above the waist, good hygiene, glove usage, and workspace sanitation are consistently upheld.

Co-Lead quarterly team meetings with Owner to reinforce expectations, encourage engagement, and uphold core values.

Support a respectful, collaborative team environment and step in to resolve conflicts or concerns as needed.

Must be dependable, organized, flexible, and capable of problem-solving under pressure.

Able to lift/move up to 20 pounds and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, and reaching throughout the shift.
Embody and promote the bakery’s core values in all leadership interactions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Prior experience in a bakery, food production environment, restaurant, or other fast-paced workplace
*Experience managing schedules, shift coverage, or employee performance
*Previous management or leadership experience required
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Excellent organizational and time-management skills
*Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards
*Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing priorities
*Ability and willingness to follow detailed instructions and ensure others do the same
*Teachable, growth-oriented mindset
*Possess good judgment, professionalism, and leadership ability
*Able to work well under pressure and solve problems independently

*General understanding of spreadsheets and basic computer programs helpful

*Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
*Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds regularly
HOURS:
Exact number of hours and days required to work are somewhat flexible (Full-Time ranges from 32-40 hours per week) and will be discussed during the interview process. (Schedule may be modified at any time to meet business needs.) Normal bakery hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM (with typical shift being between 8:00 AM-5:00 PM) depending on the day and particular events.
HOLIDAYS:
The bakery closes on Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday) and for Christmas Eve through January 2. The bakery is typically in operation on all other holidays.
