Garden Brick Wall or Boundary Statement of Work
Provide details about your garden wall project to get started. The below is based on the following key references: https://concretecalculate.co.uk/guide/garden-wall-foundations/
What type of wall, boundary, or flowerbed do you want to be installed?
*
Garden Wall (Greater than 600mm in height)
Dwarf Garden Wall (Less than 600mm in height)
Other
Will you require pillars in your wall?
Please Select
Yes
No
need to create a calculator for a 'Garden wall with Fence on top half', a ' Concrete block wall, and a Stone Wall
Please provide a link to the bricks you wish to install.
We suggest that Selco has the greatest selection of bricks - https://www.selcobw.com/products/building-materials/bricks-blocks/bricks
What is the length (m) of the wall?
*
What is the height (m) of the wall?
*
Area of wall (m2)
Number of bricks required to build a wall the size of the specified area:
This will calculate the number of bricks required using the following measurements: (LxWxH) 215 x 102.5 x 65mm with a 10mm mortar joint.
How many bricks thick do you want the wall?
*
A two-brick thick wall would have the following dimensions: (2 x 102.5 mm) + 10mm mortar joint.
Alternatively what width (m) would you like the wall?
*
Foundation and Ground Preparation
With the installation of your wall, you will require a foundation to be dug and installed.
Based on the height of your wall, your foundation should be (m2):
https://concretecalculate.co.uk/guide/garden-wall-foundations/
Based on the length of your wall, the total volume of the ground to excavate and the foundation to dig and concrete to fill in is (m3):
Length x Foundation Area
Will you require the contractor to prepare or excavate the ground?
*
Yes
No
Will you require disposal of the excavated ground?
*
Please Select
Yes
No
Please note if the volume of substrate to be excavated is greater than 1.69m3 then a skip may be required.
Do you know what type of ground is located where you want to build the wall?
Flint
Clay
Sand
Other Ground Type
Upload a picture of the location where the wall is to be built.
Materials Required
The below is an estimation of the materials that will be required to build your wall or boundry
Number of bricks required for a wall based on how many bricks thick you require.
This will calculate the number of bricks required using the following measurements: (LxWxH) 215 x 102.5 x 65mm with a 10mm mortar joint.
Wet volume of concrete required for the foundations:
For the foundations, a concrete mix of 1:2:4 of 'Cement: Sand: Aggregate' will be required, also known as C20 mix.
I am not sure if you fill the concrete up to ground level - the concrete calculator from concretecalculate says you only need 150-225mm thick - but why not up to ground level and build from there- do you start bricks under ground?
Do i need MOT for a foundation for a wall?
Standard Dry Volume
How much cement to be used (kg) for the foundation? (1part)
Calculating cement requirements involves determining concrete volume, applying the appropriate mix ratio, and accounting for material density. Standard cement density is approximately 1440 kg/m³, while one 25kg bag occupies about 0.0174 m³ volume.
How much sand to be used for the foundation (kg)? (2 parts)
The density of sand is between 1,450–1,600 kg/m³
How much aggregate to be used for the foundation (kg)? (4 parts)
Condition density of loose aggregate is 1,500–1,600 kg/m³. Compacted aggregate is 1,600–1,750 kg/m³. For this calculation we used 1450.
