Gallery A2 | Vessel Artwork Submission

Gallery A2 is a contemporary art exhibition space located at the Artisans Asylum makerspace in Boston. The gallery is dedicated to showcasing innovation and excellence in fabrication, craft, and aesthetics. Built and powered by Artisans’ members, Gallery A2 fosters connections between Artisans Asylum and the local arts community through exhibitions and holistic programming.

Vessel

A vessel is an object that holds something–artifacts, keepsakes, an idea. We make vessels as reliquaries for memories, grief, memento mori, the remains of a loved one. Our heart is an arrangement of vessels. A seed is a vessel that germinates a life. A vase holds natural beauty in our homes. A ship is built to connect us across vast distances.

A vessel is at once a body that contains, that journeys, that frees, and holds fast. Gallery A2 invites artists to submit a portfolio, a body of work–three or more objects–a collection of pieces holding a concept or idea. Makers across time and industries have put together collections and unified their work into series from fine artists to department stores. We are looking for emerging, early, and mid-career creative practitioners whose submission reads as a unified vessel of work.

Vessel seeks 10-15 artists each showing a vessel collection.

Submissions Due: Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Midnight

Submission guidelines:

Space: Total wall-hung work in each collection should fit within 8 linear feet of wall space, and total 3-dimensional work in each collection should fit within a 4 square foot area. The maximum height of any object is 10 feet; walls in the gallery are 8 to 14 feet.
All media accepted and encouraged, including non-traditional creative practices.
Collections must be submitted using a single form.
Artworks should reflect the show’s theme: Vessel.
Artworks must be fabricated in significant part by the submitting artist(s).
“AI” generated "artworks" will not be considered. Exceptions may be made in instances when the software used to create the work is authored by the submitting artist. Additionally, all training data must be the intellectual property of the submitting artist, in the public domain, licensed with credit given to the original artist(s) or licensor, or used with documented permission from and credit to the original artist(s).
Artists are responsible for all costs and logistics of delivery or shipping artwork to and from the gallery. (See below for drop-off and pickup dates and location.)
