Have you participated in North House’s Work Study program before, volunteered, taken a class, or been on campus?

North House is a community gathering space that is open to the public. The Work Study program involves interfacing with the public, crowds, loud noises, working around children, living in shared housing, and interacting with people. Have you worked in a public-facing or customer service role before? Do you have any concerns, questions, limitations, or specific needs?

Do you have any professional experience in house painting, cleaning, organizing, event planning, landscaping, building, or fixing things? Do you have any specific skills or experience that you want North House to be aware of?
Work Study can include physically demanding work! Participants should expect to be on their feet for most of the day, lift 50+ pounds, deal with messy bathrooms, stinky garbage, and dirty dishes. Do you have any experience in a role where you’ve had to work hard and clean up after others? Do you have any physical limitations or other concerns that we should be aware of?

Agreements
I understand and agree to the following:

I will arrive on campus by 10am on the Wednesday of my scheduled session
I will be participating in outdoor, physical, and messy work.
I will be respectful and communicative in a dynamic, public, and social environment
I am responsible for any tuition not covered by work study credit.
Work study credit covers up to $150 in materials fees included in the tuition and registration. I am responsible for any materials fees beyond $150 and any materials fees paid directly to instructors for the course(s) I take
Transportation to/from/within Grand Marais is my own responsibility
My work study credits expire one year after they are issued.
I understand that housing is provided solely as a benefit of my participation in the Work Study program. If my participation in the program ends for any reason, or if I am asked to leave the program, my housing eligibility will expire simultaneously, and I will need to leave the premises within 24 hours of notice.

If you are experiencing any problems with this form or don't hear back about your work study application within a week, please get in touch with us at info@northhouse.org or 218-387-9762 and we will try to sort out the problems. Our website occasionally blocks applications for spam, which means we never recieve that application. We apologize for the inconvenience!
