Visit Occoquan is excited to launch a program to encourage and enhance group tours in town throughout the year. This includes larger bus tours from out of the area, coordinated by the Prince William Department of Economic Development (PWCDED), as well as small group day trips targeted specifically from senior, retirement, and independent living facilities in the area.
For local groups, we will encourage groups visit Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday where they can have coordinated parking for their buses, and receive Visitor's Guides, Accessibility Guides, and lists of discounts/incentives at businesses.
For out-of-area groups, we will have the same bus/information plan set up, but will they will also be able to request (as available) guided history tours or general tours of the town.
We are also working on a plan to let businesses know when groups are attending. Some will just stop without coordinating, however when they work with us or PWCDED, we will let you know the date and approxiate time of their arrival, via email.
Our goal is to launch Explore Occoquan by June 1, 2026, so the first iteration of the program will actually last 7 months. The deadline is May 1, 2026 to sign up for the June 1-December 31, 2026 program. Good things to know:
- You do NOT need to provide a physical flyer or coupon, all information will be compiled onto one list for the groups.
- Visitors will simply show you or your staff the Explore Occoquan discount sheet to receive the discount.
- Your participation in the program is FREE as long as you are in good standing with the Town of Occoquan and Visit Occoquan.
- You agree to commit to a 6-month time period (7-month for this first launch). We will have an easy way to renew, cancel, or edit your participation bi-annually. This allows us to print the lists in bulk, without making changes.
- We do not plan to have this list be public on our website. This will be distributed privately to groups as a physical flyer, but alternatively may be sent as a PDF that they can print themselves for that one outing (if someone in Occoquan is not available to meet the group, for instance).
