    Links Non-STEM Application

     

  • Established in 1946, The Links, Incorporated is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women dedicated to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African Americans and individuals of African descent.

    The Orangeburg (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, founded in December 1964, continues to uphold the legacy of its Founders. Believing that a strong education is the key to a successful life, the chapter is committed to providing opportunities that enhance the quality of life for individuals, families, and the broader community.

     

  • Purpose: The Links Non-STEM Scholarship is designed to support rising sophomore, junior and senior collegiate students pursuing degrees in non-STEM majors (business, education, humanities, arts, communication, etc.) This scholarship aims to recognize students who demonstrate a strong passion for community service, academic excellence, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in the community.

    Reward: A non-renewable $1,000 scholarship for financial assistance during the upcoming academic year.

    Qualifications: Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:

    • Be a rising sophomore, junior or senior at Claflin University, SC State University, or Voorhees University
    • Be pursing a major in a non-STEM-related field (business, education, humanities, arts, communication, etc.)
    • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
    • Have a record of providing service to others through community involvement and/or extracurricular activities.

    Essay Requirement: Applicants must submit a minimum 250-word essay (4-5 paragraphs) detailing their record of community involvement/service and its impact.
