The junior representative program is designed to further the skills and development of those wanting to take their basketball to a higher level. In recent years basketball has experienced significant growth, resulting in an increased number of players interested in playing representative basketball.
Recent experience has seen up to 150 players registering for rep trials in some age groups and this has led to a refinement of our selection processes. The outcomes of recent representative selections have confirmed that domestic club player grading can be relied upon to identify which levels of players are likely to be the most competitive in a rep selection process.
It is our intention to cap the number of representative teams in each age group based on available resources i.e. qualified coaches and sufficient training venues. The level of players invited to trial will therefore be limited to players who are likely to be competitive in the selection process in addition to satisfying the eligibility criteria.
For this reason, the only male players eligible to trial for U18 selection in the 2026-27 season are those who played rep in either U16 or U18 in 2025/2026 and/or players who are currently playing in the Northside Wizards Junior Domestic competition in Age/Division 18 Div 1 and 18 Div2.
Male players playing in the Northside Wizards Junior Domestic competition in Age/Division 18 Div 3 and below and any U16 division who did not play rep in the 2025-26 rep season are not eligible to trial, but may seek exemption to trial by completing the application below. Northside Wizards officials will consider all exemption requests via a review of player statistics and discussion with junior club representatives. Players will be advised of the outcome.
NOTE - exemption requests are not guaranteed to be approved. Players will be advised prior to the trials.
The number of female players eligible to trial is unlimited due to the much smaller numbers involved. All females born in 2010 and 2011 who are currently playing in a Northside Wizards Domestic competition may register to trial and exemptions are not required.
