Call for nominations - Liberal Awards 2026
  • Call for nominations - Liberal Awards

  • The European Liberal Forum proudly presents the sixth edition of the Liberal Awards under the theme “We choose the Future.” At a time of profound political, technological, and geopolitical change, this year’s Awards highlight those who do not merely react to the present political developments but actively shape our future.

The 2026 Awards will not only celebrate past achievements but send a clear message: liberalism is not a legacy of the past, but it is the driving force of Europe’s future. Through vision, responsibility, and action, liberals across Europe are building resilient democracies, competitive economies, and open societies fit for tomorrow.

Open to current and former elected officials, think tankers, journalists and activists, who are residents in one of the Council of Europe Member States.

In 2026 liberal organisations can nominate their candidates in three categories, each organization can make no more than one nomination in each category:

    • Rising star: Which newcomer has caught your eye on the liberal scene this year? Who is making waves with their energy and dedication?
    • Liberal of the Year: Who has been brave enough to shake up the liberal world with disruptive ideas or approaches?
    • Lifetime Achievement: Who has dedicated their life to advancing liberal values and left an enduring impact on liberal thought and politics in Europe?

The Deadline for nominatios is May 29th, 2026

The project aims to put the spotlight on and celebrate the achievements of liberal figures, stakeholders, changemakers and activists during the 50 year anniversary celebration of the ALDE Congress, taking place in Vienna on 3-4 July, 2026.
