  • Theatre Apprenticeship Program

    The Nashville Repertory Theatre Apprenticeship Program is committed to training future generations of Nashville theater professionals. Applicants should be highly motivated individuals who have already acquired strong basic training and expertise in the theater arts and are looking to explore their field further through meaningful hands-on experience. Previous experience could include educational, community/semi-professional theatre, and/or other professional theatre settings.

    Apprenticeship FAQs:

    • Pay is $1,500 for each position
    • Hours vary based on the department.
    • Some apprenticeships require being able to commit to full rehearsal schedules, such as apprentice directors and stage managers.
    • Apprentices will be allowed to participate in regular production meetings prior to the beginning of rehearsals.
       
  • Available Apprenticeships 

    Stage Manager Apprentice

    • This person will be learning from the stage management team. They are an active member of the team and will have tasks like paperwork.
    • There will be a weekly meeting with the Director of Production to talk through various things such as resumes, equity rules, paperwork, and answering any questions this person has.

    Director Apprentice

    • This person will be working and learning from the Director of the production.
    • Will be able to attend pre-production meetings to get an understanding of the process from beginning to end.
    • Will have a weekly meeting with the Artistic Director to talk through varies things such as resumes, union rules, directing choices, and answering any questions this person has.

    Wardrobe Supervisor Apprentice

    • This person will be a part of the wardrobe team for the show and be a dresser for the performances.
    • Will learn from the Wardrobe supervisor all the necessary duties and tasks to work in the role.

    Lighting, Sound, or Projections Designer Apprentice

    • This person will be able to work with the designer of the show and learn what goes into making a production happen.
    • Will be able to observe how a designer works in a tech process and see how things are put into TPAC, our performance venue.
    • Will be able to attend pre-production meetings to get an understanding of the process from beginning to end
    • Please note that, in addition to the dates below, this person will be available for pre tech meetings & work with designer

    Choreographer Apprentice

    • This person will be working and learning from the choreographer of the production
    • Will be able to attend production meetings to get an understanding of the process from beginning to end
    • Will assist the choreographer in teaching choreo to cast and take notes on what has been taught to the cast.
