Lullaby of the Rivers is pleased to offer two competitions for youth aged 5 to 18. One is for storywriters, and one is for photographers. Both contests require at least one visit to a river in order to participate. Entries will be displayed and winners will be chosen at the festival on May 31st.

YOUNG STORYWRITER COMPETITION

Do you have a story to tell about a river? Maybe you saw an alligator, or a manatee. Maybe you caught a fish. Maybe you went swimming. Here's an opportunity to tell your story. Tell us about your river experience. Best stories will win prizes!

ENTRY FEE: $5 per entry

Printed copy of your story must be delivered to the Lullaby of the Rivers Festival on Sunday, May 31st by 10am

1. Kids 5 to 18 are invited to enter. Written permission of a parent or legal guardian is required.

2. Your story must be about a personal, first-hand experience you had at a river.

3. Your story must be written in English.

4. Illustrations, drawings, photos and graphics are not allowed.

5. Type your story using Times New Roman or Arial 12 point regular font. You may use italics or bold for effect, but do not use them frequently. Do not use all caps.

6. Your story must be less than 1000 words.

7. The story must be the original work of the entrant.

Young Photographer Competition

ENTRY FEE: $5 per entry

Photographs must be delivered to the festival on Sunday, May 31st by 10am

1. Kids 5 to 18 are invited to enter. Written permission of a parent or legal guardian is required.

2. Photograph must be a picture taken at a river. It can be a river scene, a wild animal that is in or on the river, or plants growing in a river or on the riverbank.

3. Adjustment of brightness, contrast, color and sharpness is allowed. Digital manipulations are NOT allowed.

4. Photo must be entrant’s own work.

5. Printed photo must be 5"x 7" and matted or mounted on white mat board with a finished size of 8”x10”. No framed photos or poster board. Entries that do not follow the guideline for proper matting will be disqualified.

Lullaby of the Rivers Festival reserves the right to reject any competition entry which does not reflect merit and which would not be a credit to both the competitor and the Festival, and to reject entries which are deemed objectionable or unsuited for public exhibit.Lullaby of the Rivers Festival will designate judges and reserves the right to substitute judges if necessary.
