Golden Rules of Safety:
1. No Direct Animal Interactions The day trip/foster dog may not have direct contact with other animals, including your own pets.Pack walks with resident dogs are permitted only with one adult per dog per leash and no direct interactions.If you choose to allow any direct contact between your foster dog and your own pets, you do so at your own risk and agree not to hold ACCT Philly liable for illness or injury to your own pet(s).
2. Child Supervision & Dog Handling No one under 18 years old should walk or handle the dog at any time. The adult who signs the foster form must be the one handling the dog and the leash at all times. The dog may not be left unattended with any child under the age of 16 and must remain under your direct supervision at all times.
3. Handling & Safety Awareness Please remember that all environments and experiences will be new to your day trip dog. Use caution at all times and handle the dog thoughtfully and responsibly.
4. Restricted Areas Avoid dog parks, open fields, or any areas where dogs may be off leash.
5. Leash & Harness Requirement The dog must remain leashed and in their ACCT-approved harness at all times.The leash and harness may not be removed at any point, including while inside your home.
6. Transportation & Vehicles Dogs must remain in their seatbelt for the duration of the ride.Dogs may not travel on SEPTA buses, subways, trolleys, or regional rail, in accordance with Philadelphia transit policy.Dogs must ride inside an enclosed vehicle. No open convertibles, open Jeeps, or truck beds.Windows may be cracked for ventilation; however, dogs must remain secured, and windows may not be open wide enough for a dog to exit the vehicle.Dogs should not be seated along in back seat with children under 16 years of age.Dogs may not be left unattended in a vehicle at any time, regardless of weather or duration.
7. Hydration & Weather Safety Monitor your dog’s hydration closely, especially on days 70°F and above, and adjust activity levels accordingly.Seek shaded or cool areas whenever possible and avoid prolonged time on hot pavement.Take frequent breaks and offer water regularly.Immediately stop all activity if you notice any signs of heat stress or heat stroke, including but not limited to: excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, weakness, vomiting, disorientation, or collapse.Watch for signs of cold-related stress or hypothermia, including: shivering, whining, slowing down, lifting paws off the ground, lethargy, or clumsiness.If any signs occur, bring the dog indoors immediately and cool or warm them slowly. 8. Approved Location Only I agree to house the dog only at the approved location discussed with ACCT Philly. I will not transport or transfer the dog to another location or individual without prior approval.
