The arrival of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been sudden, disruptive and hard to understand. Among other fields, AI is transforming how music is created and distributed, dislocating income streams and making it hard for audiences to know what they are listening to. Live music would seem less open to this change but AI is playing a role even there. AMPLIFY is a EU-funded research project looking at how new digital technologies can support musicians and enhance their live performances. Our approach is to begin with people, asking what artists and audiences want and developing tools that meet those needs. We believe that human beings should be at the heart and in control of the technology they use.
As part of that work, we want to understand how people in the music sector use and feel about AI – not only musicians, but producers, engineers and promoters. We invite you to answer some questions about your own experience of AI, and what you hope (or fear) it can do. The questionnaire is straightforward and should not take very long to complete, but it will be important in helping policy-makers and technology providers understand the needs of the music world. This is a chance to be heard about a key issue affecting musicians.
The survey will be open from 15 May to 31 July 2026, and you can complete it any time. Please also share the link with friends and colleagues: the more respondents we have the stronger the voice. All the replies are anonymous and you don’t have to give a name or email address to participate. The data analysis will be led by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) on behalf of the AMPLIFY consortium. We will publish the results on the AMPLIFY website https://amplifyproject.eu/ in October 2026, so the data will be available for everyone to use. Thanks for taking part – we hope you’ll find the results informative and useful.
