Designing The Kiwi Smart Home
  • Designing The Kiwi Smart Home

    CEDIA CPD Presentation Training
  • Designing the Kiwi Smart Home is a CPD presentation tailored for New Zealand architects and approved by the NZIA, exploring how residential technology systems intersect with architecture. The session reframes automation as a coordinated building service, influencing ceilings, joinery, services integration, ventilation, and compliance - rather than a collection of devices applied late in the project.

Learn practical, design-led overview of how to incorporate systems such as lighting control, shading, HVAC integration, security, and data infrastructure into residential projects. It addresses the realities of New Zealand construction, including lightweight timber framing, seismic considerations, remote and holiday homes, and regional servicing constraints. Architects will gain insight into the importance of early engagement, infrastructure planning, and clear scope definition, along with an understanding of the relevant Building Code considerations and the distinction between life safety and convenience systems.
