Parent/Guardian Opt-In for Sexuality Education

PICS is required to notify parents and provide them with the opportunity to opt-in their child/children where courses, programs of study, instructional materials, instruction, or exercises include subject matter that deals primarily and explicitly with aspects of sexuality. Prior to the 2025/2026 school year an opt-out method was in place. We recognize value in protecting our children, and ensuring parents are fully informed of the Biblically based instruction provided at PICS as part of this new annual process.

For your child to receive instruction in Biblical Sexuality, your opt-in consent is  required prior to it being delivered. If you do not opt-in, your child will not be able to participate. Not attending will not impact their academic progress.   

This year, your child may receive aspects of this education as learning outcomes of the following programs: 

• Physical Education and Wellness (Grades 3-9) 
• Health and Life Skills (Grades 7-9) 
• Career and Life Management & Career and Technology Studies (High School) 

Materials used in these courses are available for your review prior to instruction. Please coordinate with your child’s teacher or the office if you wish to review any material. Additional opt-in forms and material will be sent as needed.
