Artist Agreement & Permissions
By submitting work to Palo Alto 2044, you are contributing to a shared cultural collection that reflects perspectives for current and future audiences. In doing so, you agree to the following terms:
1. Curation & Selection
All submissions will be reviewed by the Museum’s team and jury. Inclusion in the Palo Alto 2044 grand opening exhibition, commemorative book, and digital time capsule is selective and not guaranteed.
All submitted works may be retained as part of the initiative’s broader archival record.
2. Grant of Usage Rights
You grant the Palo Alto Museum a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to reproduce, publish, display, and distribute your submitted work in connection with Palo Alto 2044, including:
- Physical exhibitions and installations
- The Palo Alto 2044 commemorative publication (print and digital formats)
- The Museum’s digital archive and time capsule
- Promotional, educational, and communications materials (including website, social media, press, and print)
This license supports the Museum’s cultural, archival, educational, and community mission and does not transfer ownership.
3. Copyright & Ownership
You retain full copyright and ownership of your work.
The Palo Alto Museum will provide appropriate credit in all instances of display or publication, where reasonably practicable.
4. Archival Inclusion
By submitting, you consent to your work potentially being selected for inclusion in the Palo Alto 2044 Digital Time Capsule, a long-term archive intended for future access, research, exhibition, and educational use.
5. Exhibition and Publication Participation
If your work is selected:
- You will be notified by July 17, 2026
- You agree to deliver the work to the Palo Alto Museum in Palo Alto, California USA in exhibition-ready condition by August 1, 2026
- Details for shipping or in-person delivery will be provided upon notification
Creators are responsible for delivery of their work.
6. Artist Representations & Warranties
By submitting, you represent and warrant that:
- The work is your original creation
- You have full authority to grant the rights described in this agreement
- The work does not infringe upon any third-party rights, including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights.
