5-10 Reading and Writing Work Samples
Mix of reading and writing (doesn't need to be even — e.g. 3 reading, 4 writing). Reading: passages with questions answered, workbook pages with circled/matched answers, phonics/sight words, or a book log. Writing: journal entries, sentences, stories, or worksheet answers in full sentences. (K: tracing/name-writing counts too.)K–2: a page or a few sentences is enough. 3rd–8th: mix short work with at least one longer piece. 9th–12th: include an essay or report if possible.
