  • The Skills and Education Group Awards Level 2 Award in MOT Testing Group A Classes 1 & 2 has been developed in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency DVSA to give learners the knowledge and skills required to perform MOT Tests.

    This qualification is a requirement for learners who wish to gain the DVSA Certificate of Competence for MOT Testers

  • The SEG Awards Level 2 Awards in MOT Testing Group B Classes 4 & 7 has been developed in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to give learners the knowledge and skills required to perform MOT Tests.

    This qualification is a requirement for learners who wish to gain the DVSA Certificate of Competence for MOT Testers.

  • The SEG Awards Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management has been developed in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to give learners the knowledge and skills required to manage MOT Vehicle Test Centres.

  • The Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment (VTAA) recognises the equivalent of Level 3 knowledge and skills for technicians who do not hold a formal qualification.

    The accreditation enables motor vehicle technicians who have worked in their roles for four or more years to prove their capabilities at Level 3.

    The VTAA is a requirement for technicians without a Level 3 qualification who wish to progress to the Level 2 Awards in MOT Testing and DVSA Certificate of Competence to begin conducting MOT tests under the new DVSA requirements.

  • Qualifications & Certificates

  • This section verifies your vocational eligibility for MOT training. You must upload clear copies of all relevant qualifications. Certificates must display your full legal name, awarding body and date achieved. Incomplete or illegible documentation may delay application approval.

    Not required if attending the VTAA (Level 3) course.

    You must have an accepted qualification or accreditation if you want to test class 3, 4, 5 or 7 vehicles (cars, private buses and light commercial vehicles).

  • Employment History Evidence

    This section assesses your compliance with DVSA’s 4-year relevant employment requirement for MOT Tester and VTAA eligibility. You must evidence a minimum of four years full-time, hands-on vehicle inspection, servicing or repair experience. All information may be independently verified.
  • You must provide a printed/ digital copy, of your employment history from Get proof of employment history - GOV.UK.

  • If the evidence does not relate to the eligibility criteria, we will accept alternative evidence as detailed.

    • Payslips

    • Reference letter from employer (signed and on company headed paper) or email from official company email address containing start and end date of employment, role(s) and stating if employment was full time
    • If suitable, you can make a 'subject access request' with HMRC Apply to make a subject access request to HMRC - GOV.UK for tax year information prior to what is available on gov.uk employment history.

  • Please access the DVLA website www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence and click on: "View or share your driving licence information" and create a licence check code.

    Once you have viewed your details you will need to choose the tab: "Share your licence information" and click "get code".

    The DVLA code will remain active for 21 days, is single use and is case sensitive.

    Please copy and paste the code where possible.

  • DBS / Basic Disclosure Requirement

    MOT Tester candidates must provide a Basic Disclosure certificate dated within 3 months of the DVSA demonstration test. This should be applied for AFTER the course has been completed.
