  • Audition Form for Fauquier Community Theatre's Production of "Anastasia: The Musical".

  • General Information

    Seeking skilled dancers/singers/actors for the musical, "Anastasia." The show will be directed by Camden Gillespie. Performance Dates: September 18 - October 4, 2026. They will be in the evenings on Fridays and Saturdays and matinees will be held on Sundays. Auditions will be on Friday June 12 at 6PM-10pm and Saturday June 13th from 6pm - 10:00pm. Callbacks will be invitation only on Monday June 22 from 6pm - 10:00pm. Auditions, callbacks and performances will be held at Fauquier Community Theatre on 4225 Aiken Drive in Warrenton, VA 20187.   • Audition Preparation

  • Sign up for a timeslot. Choose a timeslot to audition.  Arrive about 10 minutes in advance of your timeslot. (If there are no time slots left, please reach out to us at mslovstheatr@gmail.com)

    Prepare a song.  Please prepare a song in the style of the show.  Your selection should be about 45-60 seconds long (approxiametly 32 bars of music). Bring live/recorded music (not sheet music) with you. A Bluetooth speaker will be provided if you need one. No acapella auditions.

    Dance. If you are interested in dance prepare a short ballet solo. If you are called back, there will be a required dance to learn via video as well.

    Anya/Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov
    ●
    Playing age: Mid-20s 
    ● Range: G3-F5, Belt to D5. Disney-esque Soprano or Mezzo
    ● Dance Requirement: Some movement

    Brave, fiery, and steel-willed beneath a distrustful exterior, Anya is driven by a single mantra: "Home, love, family", as she fights to reach the Paris family she can't remember, all while the question of whether she is the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov remains unanswered.

     Dmitry Sudayev

    Playing age: Late 20s

    ● Range: A2-G4. “Baritenor”
    ● Dance Requirement: Some Movement

    A street rat turned con man willing to lie, cheat, and steal his way out of poverty, Dmitry finds his latest (and largest) scheme transforming into a life-changing adventure that forces him to choose love over self-interest.

    Vladimir “Vlad” Popov

    Playing age: Mid 40s-Early 50s (No age really specified)

    ● Range: A2-F4. Comic Baritone
    ● Dance Requirement: Strong mover

    Dmitry's partner in crime and surrogate father, Vlad is a dramatic, crafty, and deeply affectionate former con artist who charmed his way through pre-revolution society, and hasn't stopped since.

    Deputy Commissioner Gleb Vaganov
    ●
    Playing age: Mid 30s

    ● Range: A2-Gb4. Baritone with a strong upper extension.
    ● Dance Requirement: None.

     A true believer in Communist ideals who is loyal, hardworking, and almost heroic, Gleb is undone by his obsession with Anya, which forces a consuming internal battle between duty and doing what is right.

    Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch
    ● Playing age: 40s 
    ● Range: G3-C5 (Briefly sings a B5 at the end of Land of Yesterday, but the rest of the role is very Mezzo) Jazzy Mezzo with an upper extension.
    ● Dance Requirement: Dancer (Ideally a strong dancer)

    The Dowager Empress's clever and fun-loving lady in waiting, Lily copes with her Russian exile through dark humor and vodka, and wastes no time rekindling her secret romance with Vlad upon their reunion.

    Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna Romanov

    Playing age: 80

    ● Range: F3-Bb4. A regal Mezzo
    ● Dance: None 

    Icy, regal, and commanding, the Dowager Empress has lost everything and is forced to endure endless imposters claiming to be Anastasia. Yet beneath her formidable exterior lies a sharp wit and a fierce, enduring love for her granddaughter.


    Young Anastasia/Alexei (Doubles in Ensemble as well)

    Playing age: 8-13 years old

    ● Featured role
    ● Range: C4-C5, a sweet child soprano
    ● Dance Requirement: Strong dancer


    Young Anastasia is the willful, brave, proud, and precocious youngest daughter of the Tsar. 
    Alexei was the Tsarevich (Heir to the throne) and only boy of the Romanov siblings. He suffered from debilitating hemophelia

    Ensemble
    The Ensemble has a TON to do in this show and they will play a vast array of featured characters.

    The Ensemble will be playing Townsfolk, Royal Servants, Bolshevik Officers  Soldiers, Parisians, Reporters, and Aristocrats. 

    Dance Ensemble

    The Dance Ensemble will be the Romanov family and the Swan Lake performers.  The dance ensemble will not be required to sing. 

    Audition Ages

    Girls 8-13 for young Anastasia

    14 and up for all other roles

  • Rehearsals and Schedules for "Anastasia"

  • Anyone cast will be required to attend 3-4 rehearsals per week prior to Tech Week and every day during Tech Week. Rehearsals will be held three nights during the week and Saturday mornings. A complete schedule is under development pending this audition. Important dates are:

    Full Read Thru: Thursday, June 25th, 2026

    First rehearsal: Saturday, June 27th, 2026

    Tech Week: September 12th -17th, 2026 

    Performances: September 18, 19 evening and 20 matinee.

    September 25, 26 evening and 27 matinee.

    October 2, 3 evening and 4 matinee with strike after.

    Actors may not be called for every rehearsal. The set will be struck following the last matinee performance, and ALL cast members and parents are required to assist. You MUST commit to ALL rehearsals during Tech Week and ALL performances. Your availability for rehearsals will GREATLY influence your chances of receiving a part. Please LIST any prior commitments (regular or occasional) starting with the day after callbacks that may conflict with the rehearsal schedule.

    Please note the following FCT policies: If you are cast, you are required to become a member of FCT. Yearly Membership dues are $25 for an individual or $50 for a family, which includes all adults living in your immediate household. (This is the minimum; higher membership levels have extra benefits and are encouraged!) Membership dues are preferred to be made online (or a check payable to Fauquier Community Theatre may be given to the Producer.) Please consider donating more than the fee. FCT has a zero tolerance policy toward sexual harassment and abuse and may conduct background checks.There is no smoking, vaping, drug use, or drinking alcoholic beverages at any time in the theatre, dressing room trailer, at any rehearsal location indoors or outdoors. You may not smoke or eat at any time while in costume, indoors or outdoors. It is the responsibility of all participants to assure that all aspects of the production are conducted in a safe manner. Participation in this production is strictly voluntary and there is no paid compensation.
