  • Aggressive or Dangerous Pets:

The client agrees that they MUST inform The Dog Patch Mobile Grooming if my pet(s) bites, has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles WILL be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pet(s), and protects both the pet and the groomer. The Dog Patch reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such pet(s) at any time before or during the grooming process, and charge a handling fee for aggressive pets in addition to the regular grooming charge. If the pet should bite, the client agrees to be responsible for any and all related medical bills, recovery costs, loss of income and equipment damage. Please initial below.

  • Health, Medical Problems & Senior Pets:

Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom, for senior or otherwise ill pets. Since these pets have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort. Humanity over Vanity.

This contract will give The Dog Patch permission to obtain immediate veterinary treatment for my pet should it be deemed necessary. The Dog Patch will do their best to contact the client first, then take the pet to it’s authorized Veterinarian. The client agrees to pay all expenses for veterinary care. Client assumes all liabilities, financial and otherwise, for the behavior and health of their pet. The Dog Patch will be held harmless from damages, loss or claims arising from any known or unknown pre-existing condition of the pet.

Client will advise us of any allergies, sensitivities, or pre-existing medical conditions so we can avoid aggravating these situations. Products not labeled for use on animals can be used for grooming but only with your permission. Please let The Dog Patch know of any prior grooming history you or your dog may not have found satisfactory. We want to avoid the repetition of poor or unpleasant experiences or situations. Please initial below.

  • Matted Coats:

Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Mats left in a pet's coat only grow tighter, and can bruise, irritate or even tear the skin.

The Dog Patch will NOT de-mat my pet if it is advised to be unsafe or painful for the pet. Mats are very difficult and dangerous to remove, and can ultimately cause the dog to relate a painful experience every time it is to be groomed. Therefore, if the client's pet is matted, the pet may be required to be shaved in order to start over with a healthy, brushed coat.

When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats that cannot be seen. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions from scratching, and failure of the hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. Prevention is the best defense against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments.

There is an extra charge for dematting SO LONG AS YOUR GROOMER BELIEVES IT CAN BE DONE SAFELY. If the client decides they do not want their dog shaved and decide to not continue with the appointment, the full price of the service will still be charged.

    Please initial below.

  • Shaving Double-Coated Dogs:

In some cases, double coated dogs (such as Huskies, German Shepherds and Labs) may be requested to be shaved. The Dog Patch will accommodate this request, however the risks of this must be understood. By shaving a double coated dog, it is most likely that the coat will NOT grow back the same, and in some cases will not grow back at all.

Shaving double coated dogs does NOT stop the shedding. The dog will STILL shed, it will just shed shorter hairs. Shaving double coated dogs could also cause some irritation and clogged hair follicles. These clogged hair follicles can be the cause for hair growing back irregularly or not at all.

  • Puppy's First Haircut and/or First Haircut for ANY dog not yet been groomed:

The first grooming experience for a puppy (or a dog of any age who has never been groomed) requires patience and understanding. More time may be necessary to work with the pet in this case. Gradually adding steps to the grooming process on a regular basis will help to minimize any potential stress.

The Dog Patch does not push pets past their limits, as we want them to enjoy coming to us and not fear the grooming process. Because of this, the client’s haircut of choice or grooming request in general may not be complete or exact the first few times.

The client understands that they can help their pet(s) better accept and enjoy grooming by regularly massaging my pet's paws and feet as well as brushing & combing their coats.

    Please initial below.

  • Duration of Appointment:

Every effort will be made to keep our scheduled grooms running smoothly. A typical pet groom can be completed in 1 to 3 hours from the time of your appointment. If your pet has behavior issues or skin and coat problems, you may be looking at a longer period of time. Subsequently if a client's appointment before yours runs into some issues such as the named above, your appointment may be pushed back slightly or rescheduled. The groomer will update you ASAP if this instance occurs. Please initial below.

  • Accidents:

There is always a possibility an accident could occur when working on live animals with sharp grooming equipment. Even though The Dog Patch exercises great caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around.

If the client arrives to pick up their pet while they are still being groomed, DO NOT knock on the door, try talking to them or allow him/her to see the client. Every effort will be made to insure the clients pet is groomed as safely as possible, but an excited pet can be dangerous to continue to work on.

If the client insists on talking to your pet or the groomer, The Dog Patch reserves the right to end the grooming session even if the groom is not completed, and the full price of the grooming service will be charged.

    Please initial below.

  • No-shows & Cancellations:

No shows and cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment time will be charged the full price of the grooming service. Refusal to pay will result in refusal of service until the balance is paid.

Continually re-scheduling clients will be dealt with on a case to case basis, but after 2 reschedules, a non-refundable deposit of 100% of the groom price will be in effect, and will go towards the next appointment. If the clients final appointment with 100% deposit is a reschedule or a no-show, the client forfeits the deposit and future service will be refused.

We understand there are emergency situations every so often and we will work with the client the best we can, but rescheduling, no shows and late cancellations of appointments cause loss of income to The Dog Patch and commission paid groomers.

Please be respectful of our time as we are a by-appointment business, and other clients could be waiting for an appointment such as yours. Please Note -No Shows or Last Minute Cancellations during Holidays will result in a $95 no show fee and pre-payment may be needed prior to ALL future appointments.

    Please initial below.

  • Payment:

The client understands that payment is due when the service is complete. NO EXCEPTIONS. Any deposits paid will be applied to your appointment.

    Fleas:

By initialing below, I understand that if fleas are found on my pet, the groomer will need to give them a flea bath at my expense.

By initialing below, I understand that I can not hold the groomer responsible or liable in the event that grooming reveals a pre-existing condition, which may need to be treated before grooming is commenced.

    Significant Matting including muzzle:

I understand that in some instances of significant matting, especially where it is interfering with the pet's comfort and/or making it difficult to groom without injuring the pet, the groomer may determine that shaving is the only safe option for the pet. In this case, the groomer will call me before any shaving is done.

I understand a muzzle may be used as necessary to prevent injury to the dog or the groomer. Muzzles can sometimes calm distraught pets.

I understand having my pet groomed carries some risk due to the types of tools used while grooming. The utmost care will ALWAYS be taken, however accidents such as nicks and scratches due to sharp instruments may sometimes occur. My groomer will inform me of any incident that occurs, big or small. If necessary, the groomer will transport my pet to the vet for further care. I understand that veterinary bills caused by serious matting, pre-existing conditions, aggressive or difficult temperament, or from the pet being elderly are my responsibility.

I, the legal pet owner, the undersigned, have read, understand and agree to the above terms for the grooming of my pet(s) at The Dog Patch Mobile Grooming and have answered all questions honestly and to the best of my ability.
