    St. Petersburg Audubon Dr. Harold Albers

    Teacher Ecology Camp!

     

     WORKSHOP B IS FULL - Waiting List Only

    There are two Florida ecology workshops to choose from, and you may select to attend either one or both camps. Workshops are for Florida's formal educators (teachers) and informal educators (homeschool leaders, nature center employees and volunteers, docents, ecotour operators, etc.). 

    Participants will bring their sack lunches and drinking water for outdoor activities daily, wear closed-toe shoes,  plus provide their own transportation to all classroom and field trip locations. 

    Schedules or locations may change due to unforeseen situations; however, this is not anticipated.

    Workshop A -- "Creating Florida Habitats in Urban Areas"

    June 8 & 9: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM Daily 

    Total of 12 contact hours

    In-person classroom & field trips

     

    •  June 8 (Monday) - Understanding Urban Habitats

    AM & PM Classroom & Outdoor Applications at Moccasin Lake Nature Park, Clearwater

    Learn Florida ecosystems & how to recognize them in nature’s distant cousin – the urban habitat; guest speakers; plant ID, selection, and resources

     

    •  June 9 (Tuesday) - Urban Habitat Immersion

    AM Field Trip: USF Botanical Gardens, Tampa

    PM Classroom: Moccasin Lake Nature Park, Clearwater

    Engage youths to make positive differences in their landscapes; enhance learning about nature through tech; spread your roots with our plant activities!

    Workshop B -- "Welcoming Wildlife to Your Landscape"

    June 10, 11, & 12: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM Daily

    Total of 18 contact hours

    In-person classroom and field trips

     

    • June 10 (Wednesday) - Learning about local wildlife and their needs

    AM & PM Classroom & Outdoor Applications: Moccasin Lake Nature Park, Clearwater

    Interactive activities learning about landscapes; guest speakers; live raptor presentation with the bird ambassadors at Moccasin Lake; ways to inspire students to connect with nature

     

    •  June 11 (Thursday) - How to Unveil and Teach about Florida Wildlife

    AM Field Trip: Folly Farms, Safety Harbor

    PM Classroom: Moccasin Lake Nature Park, Clearwater

    Guest speaker will share interactive techniques to assist youths with recognizing wildlife’s presence; outdoor applications 

     

    •   June 12 (Friday) - Creating Wildlife Habitat in Your Landscape

    AM Field Trip: Dunedin Gardens

    PM Classroom: Moccasin Lake Nature Park, Clearwater

    Top 10 ways to create wildlife habitat in your landscape; build your own bird house to take home, or bring to school next year

    Pinellas County teachers will receive Component Points upon completion of workshops.

    If you are a teacher in another County, please check with your school administration before attending to get approval for your Component Points, too.
