  • Important Information

    Please read carefully before submitting.
    • The style of placement will dictate the structure and how autonomous the work may be.
    • In any which case; the days here at the zoo may contain a small amount of animal interaction (e.g. feeding) but are largely consistent of cleaning, food preparation, gardening and grounds maintenance. Specifically lots of pathway and enclosure raking, and much glass cleaning.
    • Covered footwear must be worn. In most placement scenarios work boots will be considered a must.
    • Short or long pants or sleeves are not specified, but no singlets are to be worn at any time during your placement as they only offer coverage for torso and shoulders. Singlets may be worn beneath a proper t-shirt for additional layers.
    • Colour of clothing is preferred to be black and a hat is suggested to be worn.
    • There is fresh drinking water available on site and it is suggested you bring a refillable drink bottle.
    • Morning tea and lunch may be purchased from our cafe daily, however it is recommended that you bring your own lunch as some days may be busier than others and difficult to get your food ordered and received before the end of your break. Breaks are daily at 10am and 1pm, both 30mins each.
    • Start time is 8am. It is expected that you are in and starting work at this time with all personal belongings stored away. Therefore 7:45am would be considered a minimum adequate arrival time to achieve this. Shifts finish at 5:00pm.
    • Due to the high volume of work experience inquiries receieved, it can take some time to review all applications and respond. If you haven’t received a response within 10 business days, please email admin@billabongkoala.com.au
    • Your placement may be terminated prior to commencement or during placement at Billabong Zoo’s deaccession for a variety or reasons.

  • Billabong Zoo is currently only accepting applications for work placement for High School, TAFE and University students.
