Consultation on proposed cricket use at Priorswood Park
  • Consultation on proposed cricket use at Priorswood Park

  • Taunton Town Council is seeking feedback on a proposal to introduce cricket at Priorswood Park. We have been approached by a local cricket club that is looking to make the park its home ground, sharing the space with existing football use.

The proposal would see three cricket teams using the site, with cricket taking priority at the beginning and end of the seasonal calendar. Football would continue to be accommodated, with alternative capacity available where needed to ensure fixtures are completed. The aim is to manage use of the park carefully so that different sports can coexist throughout the year.

As part of the proposal, there would be investment in the existing pavilion, improvements to the playing surface, and a clear approach to maintenance responsibilities. Safety would be a key consideration, with appropriate risk assessments carried out to protect neighbouring properties, park users and parked vehicles.

To help explain the proposal in more detail, a short video has been produced. Residents are encouraged to watch the video before responding to the consultation to better understand how the site would operate and what the changes could mean for Priorswood Park.

The Council would like to hear local residents’ views before any decisions are made. Your feedback will help shape how Priorswood Park is used in future and whether it should develop into a multi‑use recreational space supporting cricket alongside existing activities.
