The Legends project honors artists who have made significant contributions to the City of Mobile’s music heritage, focusing on musicians, composers, and performers with strong ties to the city. The selection process highlights individuals who have advanced music careers, creating musical milestones within the city, state, and internationally.
ELIGIBILITY: Nominees are typically individuals born in Mobile or who have lived in the area for a significant portion of their lives/careers.
SIGNIFICANCE: Candidates must have made substantial, lasting contributions to music and culture - either locally, nationally, or internationally.
CATEGORIES: Legends recognizes music artists (performers, composers, musicians) and educators who have demonstrated excellence, influence, and impact on the music world.
The Board and its partner organizations will determine final selection of music legends: Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival Productions, Inc., Excelsior Band Preservation, Inc., Mobile Arts Council, Mystic Order of Jazz Obsessed (MOJO), Jazz, Art, Writers, South Festival (JAWS), Mobile Public Library, and Blues Tavern
