Details and Rules of the Event

To promote safety during this well-attended event, the format will be Staggered Start Fun Swim. Registration is capped at 225 people with participants swimming in waves of no more than 50 people. LMOA reserves the right to assign registrants to any wave to meet logistical needs. The first two waves will be competitive swimmers only.

    • Prizes will be awarded ONLY to the winners of the competitive waves; first, second, and third place prizes will be given to the first three male and first three female swimmers of each wave and in each age group out of the water. All other waves swim for fun.

    • The Lake Swim will begin on July 4th, 2026, at 10:30 AM from Beach 3 and finish at the Main Beach.

    • All participants must pre-register. No same-day registration.

    • Swimmers must be able to complete the swim without the use of flotation devices.

    • All swimmers must be over the age of 10. Those under 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian.

    • Swim day check-in starts at 9:15 AM and closes at 10:15 AM. All swimmers must check in and get body-marked. No swimmers will be permitted to participate if they are not checked in and body-marked by 10:15 AM.

    • Swimmers must wait in their assigned staging corral for their swim wave to begin.

    • All swimmers must be out of the water by 11:45 AM. Rescue volunteers will pull people from the water after 11:45 AM.

    • The swim distance is 433 yards. Registering if you have not completed a 433-yard swim in open water is not recommended.

    • All swimmers must enter the water in their assigned waves and exit at the defined point to be counted. It is imperative we know that everyone made it out of the water safely. Stay in the exit corral until a volunteer has checked you out.

    • Registrants who have checked in MUST check out at Beach 3 if they decide at the last minute not to participate. Do not leave without letting a volunteer know you are not swimming.

    • This is a free event. LMOA reserves the right to remove any swimmer who does not abide by the rules and/or poses a potential safety risk.

    • No alcohol may be consumed prior to the event.

    • There is no swim test requirement. Let it be known that participation in this event is voluntary and strictly at your own risk. Again, it is not recommended that you register if you have not completed a 433-yard swim in open water.
