  • Call for Symposium Proposals

22nd International Society for Serotonin Research Meeting: "Serotonin in the Blue Sky City" Calgary, Alberta, Canada - June 10-13, 2027
  • We are seeking novel and exciting symposia proposals from investigators with a serotonin research focus for the International Society for Serotonin Research Meeting in Calgary, AB, Canada (June 10-13, 2027). Proposals can be related to any aspect of the field of serotonin including, but not limited to, mental health, pharmacology, chemistry, substance use disorders, pain, cardiovascular function, digestive processes, and immune system. Individual proposals that are integrative and inclusive of multiple disciplines (e.g., molecular pharmacology, neurochemistry, animal behavior and clinical studies) are most desirable. Symposium proposals that involve a broad range of individuals from a range of lived and professional experiences and geographic locations, seniority (a mix of junior and senior investigators), and different institutions are encouraged. All symposium participants will be responsible for their own registration fees, travel, lodging and meal expenses. Further meeting details will be posted on our website as they become available. https://www.serotoninclub.org/

Each proposal is required to contain the following information:

    1.    Symposium Title

    2.    Full name of Chair and Co-Chair (if applicable). Also provide position title, affiliation, and email. *Current ISSR membership is required for the Chair and strongly encouraged for participants.*  If you are unsure of your ISSR membership status, please contact Dr. Lyn Daws (daws@uthscsa.edu). Instructions for how to join the ISSR: https://www.serotoninclub.org/join

    3.    Brief description of symposium content (~350 words)

    4.    For each speaker, provide talk title, full name, position/job title, affiliation and email; verification of speaker participation is required at the time of proposal submission.

Each symposium should have four speakers. The Chair (or Co-Chair) may also serve as a speaker. An individual may be a speaker in only one symposium. Speakers should be independent investigators (minimum rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent). Oral session(s) dedicated to early career investigators (i.e., students, post-doctoral fellows) are planned and are separate from this call for symposium proposals.
