The Children’s Business Fair is established to give young entrepreneurs the opportunity to explore the challenging and rewarding process of planning and executing a business venture. The planning and effort required to operate a business, no matter the size or degree of success, is the primary benefit of the experience. By signing and participating in the Business Fair you agree to abide by the following, to ensure that you get the most out of the experience and gain a better understanding of what real entrepreneurship involves.
I will be the boss and decision maker. If I need help with ideas or finding resources I will ask for help brainstorming, but I will be the CEO of my business, not a friend, parent or guardian.
I will be responsible for anything I need to make my business happen including:
Money - If I need money to buy supplies, I will spend my own money that I already have, or take out a loan from a trusted adult with an agreement to pay them back with the money I make from my business, this includes any fees paid to participate in the fair.
Work - If I need help making something for my business, I will not allow friends or family to volunteer. I will hire them as workers and pay them a fair wage for their work.
Profit - Being responsible for everything needed to make my business, I will also get to keep any money I make from my business after any loans are paid off.
I will follow through with my commitment to participate in the fair. I will not let discouragement or difficulty stop me. I will adapt and have the best business I possibly can at the fair. I will also reflect on the experience, using it to help plan better for the future.
Finally, and most importantly, I will learn and have fun. I will practice good sportsmanship by celebrating both the successes that I and other participants have as well as the lessons we learned along the way.
