The Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) is seeking two Manitoba WCVM student starting their second or third year (as of September of 2026) who can act as an on-campus contact to confidently and appropriately respond to questions on behalf of the MVMA or direct questions/concerns to the MVMA for consideration and/or response.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, willing to interact with students and act in the best interests of the MVMA. This position provides opportunity to directly interact with leading practitioners in Manitoba.
Required duties include but are not limited to:
- Announcing to the student body by email or notice at the beginning of the school year your presence as the MVMA representative, your role in aiding students and your contact information during the year.
- Acting as a liaison between the students and MVMA to efficiently pass information between the groups, such as questions from the students or announcements from the MVMA
- Forwarding Manitoba job placement /student funding information to undergraduate and graduate students. Designated contact for students (depending on your year) seeking information on provincial government grants/summer employment opportunities.
- Writing a 200 to 300-word update for the annual report.
- Assisting with on-site arrangements for any other MVMA-sponsored events at the college.
- In the summer, help organize and attend an MVMA-sponsored evening in Winnipeg for current and newly accepted WCVM students.
- Plan an annual dinner or lunch for Manitoba students attending the WCVM. With a budget of $1000.
- Write a year-end report for MVMA Council to pass along to succeeding MVMA reps the information and experience gained through the year
Remuneration will be $500, payable upon successful completion of duties in May 2027.
(The WCVM Student Representative term runs from June 2026 to May 2027.)
