Program Application
Bismarck-Mandan’s future is directly tied to the quality of its leadership. The Leadership Bismarck-Mandan program, established by the Chamber EDC, is dedicated to engaging emerging leaders in local business and community issues. We seek individuals who are committed to actively participating in and supporting community progress.

The program is a competitive program, and applicants will be blind scored by a steering committee.

This program is designed to strengthen your real skills, broaden your understanding of local issues, connect you with community resources and contacts, and build mentoring relationships with current leaders. Ultimately, you will gain skills and opportunities that will equip you to serve both your community and your business.

The application process is designed to find those who demonstrate a genuine interest in the community’s well-being and a willingness to be involved in service to the community. We are looking for applicants who will use their gifts and talents for public service and community benefit, focusing on tangible contributions. Successful applicants show potential for community leadership, an ability to devote the necessary time and energy to the program, and a foundation of previous community involvement.

We expect meaningful engagement. The questions below require you to demonstrate real-life experience, resourcefulness, and a level of awareness regarding the challenges and opportunities facing Bismarck-Mandan.
- Applications must be submitted electronically and are due no later than August 7.
- Member Tuition: $700.00
- Successful applicants will be notified no later than September 1.
- Tuition is due at that time.

Leadership Bismarck Mandan provides an inward look at our community. Tell us about your most important accomplishment(s), along with separately listing your community volunteer activities and your workplace contributions. In a separate paragraph, explain how these experiences have shaped your leadership potential.
Each Issue Day explores key challenges and opportunities in the Bismarck-Mandan community. Later in the Leadership Bismarck-Mandan program, participants will work in teams to select and complete a community project. At this stage, we are not asking you to commit to a specific project. Instead, please describe a community opportunity or area of need that interests you and outline a potential way you could contribute such as an idea, approach, or type of project you might explore if selected.

Program Commitment
Do you give the Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC permission to publish your bio, along with photos & videos of you during issue days as part of the Leadership Bismarck-Mandan news in our print and electronic marketing materials?
Leadership Bismarck-Mandan requires participation at all sessions. In addition, participants must complete a community field project, which will require out-of-class work. Prior to submitting your final application, are you aware of any upcoming conflicts with the calendar of issue days?

Cancellation Policy
Because enrollment is limited, it is important that those selected to participate in the Leadership Bismarck-Mandan program let the Chamber EDC know as soon as possible if they cannot attend. A 25% fee will be charged for any cancellations up to Orientation. There will be no refunds after Orientation.

I understand the purpose of Leadership Bismarck-Mandan and the commitment required. I will devote the required time and energy needed to fulfill that commitment. I will demonstrate courtesy by arriving on time to issue days and after breaks and will not conduct unrelated business.
