    POLICY:

Speaker/Presenter Stipends are intended for those invited to speak/present, or whose submission has been accepted, at venues including but not limited to a conference, academic institution, state affiliate, local district, or international dietetic meeting. Speaker stipends are not intended for presentations associated with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ annual Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo® (pre-FNCE® or FNCE®), as the Academy offers its own honorarium.

This application is intended specifically for speakers/presenters and subject matter experts presenting on topics related to nutrition in integrative and functional medicine.  Presentations should support DIFM’s mission to empower members to be leaders in integrative and functional nutrition and vision of optimal health and healing for all with integrative and functional nutrition.

DIFM Speakers will not accept invitations to meetings and events that involve or require endorsement and/or positioning of a commercial product(s) or service(s). Speakers must disclose any financial relationships with commercial entities related to the presentation topic, consistent with the CDR’s Code of Ethics.

It is expected that whenever possible, expenses of DIFM Speakers who are asked to attend meetings and events at the invitation of other organizations will be reimbursed by that organization. This application may also be completed if compensation from the requesting organization is not sufficient to cover all expenses (e.g., travel, lodging, per diem, honoraria, etc.).

Stipend recipients are required to provide a review of the presentation(s) in a newsletter article, podcast interview, webinar, or on a social media platform within two months of the presentation’s completion. (Relevant guidelines will be provided for the selected communication platform.) Stipend recipients may be asked to provide a photo and brief bio for use in member communications or on DIFM’s social media. The DIFM board also reserves the right to preview the presentation upon request, at least two weeks prior to the event date, to ensure it is aligned with DIFM’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.

Marketing materials, official DIFM logo image files, and other items may be available for the DIFM speaker/presenter to utilize in accordance with CDR CPE guidelines. It is recommended that the speaker add receipt of honorarium from the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine DPG on the disclosure slide. DIFM’s Executive Assistant will coordinate receipt of marketing items prior to the speaker engagement. Materials are to be responsibly distributed and promoted. The DIFM video may be shared with attendees and on individual websites upon completion of a WAIVER RELEASE FORM (contact DIFM at difmdpg@gmail.com).

The voting members of the DIFM Executive Committee will review the application and approve or deny financial support. Voting members may also ask key Leadership Team members to review the application. If an applicant is a voting member, they will be recused from the review and approval process.

Please submit your application at least two months prior to event to ensure adequate time for evaluation. Note that there are a limited number of stipends available per fiscal year (June 1 – May 31).
