    NMUN·NY 2027 Volunteer Senior Staff Application

    Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of volunteer Senior Staff for National Model United Nations·NY! Being on volunteer Senior Staff is a significant time commitment, but also provides an excellent opportunity to continue to develop your leadership and mentorship skills. The SGs and DSGs will accept applications via this online form.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

    Volunteer Senior Staff positions are held by individuals who have served on the volunteer staff at NMUN·NY for at least three years, demonstrate leadership potential, and contribute to the conference's educational mission. All volunteer Senior Staff help mentor the general Secretariat and contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment throughout the conference year. These positions typically require 5-10 hours per week and up to 20 hours per week during peak times.

    Candidates for volunteer Senior Staff must also be available for the following travel dates: 

    • Typically, online fall training occurs on the first weekend in October. Senior Staff volunteers participate in NYC. Tentatively, please keep the 2 - 4 October 2026 available for travel and training.
    • Travel to New York City from 18 - 27 March 2027 (Week A) or 26 March - 4 April 2027 (Week B). 

    NMUN·NY offers training, shared New York hotel accommodations, and reimburses some travel expenses. Limited refreshments and food are provided by NMUN during the conference, so participants should expect to cover most of their own meals and incidentals.

    This evaluation consists of two parts:

    1. Reading and editing the Introduction and International and Regional Framework, assuming this is your team’s Main Draft, please leave comments on the sides for anything that you notice, use "suggesting" mode to make any direct edits to the draft, and include a final comment at the end.

    1. Cover Letter (1 page max.)

    Your cover letter should generally answer:

    • Why are you interested in the volunteer Senior Staff position(s) for which you are applying? Considering the opportunity of this position, what impact do you think you can have in contributing to the mission of NMUN?

    • How will you facilitate and build upon existing processes at NMUN? If you were previously unable to fulfill your NMUN responsibilities for any reason, how will you prevent or manage these challenges this time?

    • What past experience and existing abilities will enable you to succeed on volunteer Senior Staff and in what areas do you anticipate you may struggle? Consider the extent to which you can handle individual or interpersonal conflict, provide feedback or criticism to peers and friends, how well you think you'll be able to maintain communication with your team and colleagues, and any other factors you think are worth considering.

    2. Résumé / CV (2 pages max.)

    Your current résumé or CV (no more than two pages). List any prior NMUN experience. Please detail countries represented and committees simulated as a delegate, as well as any experiences as chair or conference volunteer staff.
