    The Jaybird Learning Academy is currently seeking to welcome 4-6 to its Board of Directors. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting adults with special needs and who can contribute their unique skills, perspectives, and experiences to help grow and strengthen our mission. At JLA, we value both professional expertise and lived experience. Ideal candidates will bring experience or knowledge in areas such as financial management, legal services, marketing, fundraising, community partnerships, non-profit leadership, strategic planning, and advocacy within the special needs community. Applicants selected to advance will be invited to interview at a later date.     We ask that every JLA Board Member be willing to commit to the following terms. Please indicate your commitment to these expectations if invited to join JLA Board of Directors.

  • I fully support and will actively contribute to furthering the mission of The Jaybird Learning Academy: “Fostering purpose and belonging for adults with special needs.”
  • I can commit to serving a two-year term and to regular and active participation in board meetings.
  • I recognize the importance of board members leading by example in financial giving and am committed to making a personally meaningful contribution each year during my service.
  • I understand that the Board of Directors plays a key governance role, working alongside fellow board members and executive leadership to guide policy and financial decisions that help move the organization forward in a positive and responsible direction.
  • I am willing to support the organization by helping facilitate new partnerships and financial connections to the best of my ability. I am also committed to serving as an advocate and ambassador for The Jaybird Learning Academy within my community and professional networks
  • I understand that board service may involve access to confidential information related to finances, staff, participants, and other sensitive areas of the organization. I agree to respect and protect this confidentiality and will only share information when expressly authorized by the Board of Directors and when it serves the organization’s best interests.
  • I understand that I am required to promptly disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest to the Board President. A conflict of interest includes any situation in which I may receive personal benefit from decisions or actions taken in my role as a Board Member, or any situation that could reasonably appear to create such a benefit.
